Artist's Biography
Greg Lloyd has enjoyed a varied career incorporating many different styles of music. Greg was introduced to the trumpet at an early age in his hometown of New Hartford, Connecticut. His formal training began as a scholarship recipient at Boston University, where he studied under Terry Everson. Supplementary studies included a semester abroad at London's Royal College of Music studying with Paul Archibald, Paul Beniston, and Andrew Crowley. After his study in Boston, Greg spent two years at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts completing his M.M. while studying with Judith Saxton.
As an orchestral musician, he has performed with the London Philharmonic, Winston-Salem (NC) Symphony, Greensboro (NC) Symphony, Asheville (NC) Symphony and the Savannah (GA) Philharmonic. He has performed with many of the worlds most notable conductors, including Bernard Haitink, James Conlon, Ransom Wilson, and Nicholas McGegan. Prior to his appointment to SBQ, Greg cultivated an active freelance career across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Greg currently performs exclusively on Bach Trumpets and the Conn Vintage One Flugelhorn.
