Eustace Wilken started his trumpet playing at the age of 16 by joining the school marching band. His first teacher was George France, winner of the Golden Medal at the Paris Conservator for Music. He moved over to Robyn Finlay who at the time was principal trumpet player for the South African National Symphony Orchestra, and finalist in the Maurice Andre Trumpet Competition in Paris, France.
He joined the South African Air Force Band in 1990 and served there for 7 years, during this time he played his final Performance Exam with UNISA and finished on Principal Trumpet. During this time he played Ad Hoc for the National Symphony and the National Chamber Orchestra.
In 1997 he accepted the position of Second Trumpet for the National Chamber Orchestra and played for 5 years. In 2002 he took up position as trumpet player for South Africas largest theatre company, the Barnyard Theatre. For the next 6 years he played a number of shows across the country.
In 2008 Eustace decided to move over to freelance playing and also to take up the position as Brass & Woodwind Specialist at Marshall Music in Johannesburg.
Currently Eustace heads the Brass & Woodwind Retail and Wholesale department for the Marshall Music Group.
